Driving Down Cost Per Wear With Matching Separates

I’ve been incorporating more separates into my closet in my ongoing effort to maximize the mileage I get out of each and every piece in my wardrobe.

I’ve mentioned this before, but building a more sustainable wardrobe doesn’t just mean adding a bunch of sustainable brands to your closet. It’s about consuming less overall; being content and working with what you already have (whether it’s from a fast fashion brand or not). With wedding guest attire, novelty is queen, so unless you’re using a service like Rent the Runway for your ‘fits (a wonderful option, by the way), you end up with a lot of dresses and jumpsuits you wear at most a few times a year because they tend to be too formal for everyday wear. Separates are much easier to dress down and in turn drive down the cost per wear.

Here are a few of the many ways I’ve worn some matching separates this year, incorporating them into everything from casual everyday outfits to black tie affair appropriate looks.

Matching Separate One

A black one-shoulder top and matching dress pants.

A faux jumpsuit for a winter wedding that made going to the restroom a breeze. Jumpsuits are so cute until you need to pee amiright (IYKYK).
